Voluntary Participation in Exhumation

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) is partnering with the University of Nebraska to conduct a recovery mission in Münster, Germany. DPAA is the agency within the U.S. Department of Defense that is responsible for recovering and identifying American military members missing from past conflicts. In Europe, this applies to U.S. military members who were Prisoners of War (POW) or Missing in Action (MIA) during World War II. This recovery mission in Münster is an archaeological excavation attempting to recover the remains of one such U.S. military member. We are looking for unsalaried volunteers for the following dates:

17 June – 22 July 2022

  • Areas of Specialization (Archaeology /Anthropology /other – please state)
  • Can you drive? (and if so, what size car ~8 seater etc)
  • Timeframe available to volunteer (specific dates please)
  • COVID Vaccine Status (One shot / two shots / booster) – please note, if you are not fully vaccinated we may not be able to deploy you due to U.S. Governmental and local rules
