I have been working in DFG-funded projects creating an RDF ontology for modelling osteological data in biological anthropology since 2014. We are currently developing a software application for data acquisition using this standard until 2021.

Having received training and being involved in the interdisciplinary research structure of Kiel University (GSHDL, CRC 1266, ROOTS), I am aware of the importance of data sharing and standardization. In addition, I am about to establish a small unit for human osteology here in Kiel, which of course includes the development in a standardized recording and data storing system. I think it is important to do this „right from the start“ and to benefit from the expertise bundled within this group, and am therefore interested in the activities of the ADSM.

Ich interessiere mich für die AG, da ich auch nach Abschluss der Promotion dem Thema „standardisierte Aufnahme von Befunden“ Vortrieb geben möchte. Gerade arbeite ich konzeptionell an einer Softwarelösung, welche mittels 3D-Aufnahmen die Inventarisierung eines Skelettbefundes teil-automatisieren könnte.

Eva Rosenstock is a prehistoric archaeologist with a focus on the Neolithic as well as economic prehistory and a comparative perspective between the Near East and Europe. During her research on the feasibility of so-called anthropometric approaches to human stature as a proxy for the biological standard in prehistory (e.g. https://doi.org/10.1007/s12520-019-00850-3), Eva’s DFG-funded Emmy Noether Research group updated large parts of the 1960ies to 1980ies Mainz and Geneva data collections (https://doi.org/10.17171/2-12-3-1) and published them Open Access on http://repository.edition-topoi.org/collection/LIVE. With more data as heirloom of the project, Eva wants to contribute to data sharing and reproducibility of results in both archaeology and anthropology.

Als v. a. an der physischen Anthropologie interessierter Biologe arbeite ich mit umfangreichen Datenbänken zu humangenetischen (z. B. Allel- & SNP-Häufigkeiten) und morphologischen (z. B. 3D-Scans menschlicher Schädel) Informationen. Im Rahmen meiner Forschungs-Tätigkeit (z. B. zur humanen Besiedelungsgeschichte des Süd-Pazifiks, statistischen Modellierung, Aufbau einer Datenbank mit publizierten Schädel-Maßen) bin ich dabei immer wieder mit den Problemen des Umgangs und der Vergleichbarkeit anthropologischer Daten konfrontiert worden. Daher ist mir die Vergleichbarmachung und Dokumentation sowie die Motivation zum Austausch/Zurverfügungstellung anthropologischer Daten ein großes Anliegen.
