Biological Anthropology – Faculty of Medicine at the University of Freiburg (Germany) announces the following offer.
Research Internship Opportunity
Output modelling in an interdisciplinary research project covering acquisition, provenance and biological data in a historical scientific research collection of human remains from Africa.
- Schedule flexible, equivalent to a 5-month full-time job spread within 12 months, i.e. 16-38 hours per week
- Payment and benefits according to the German TV-L pay scale (E 13)
- Starting as of now
- Work in an international and interdisciplinary research environment
Responsibilities: Create a domain-specific RDF-ontology. Integrate within a common data model research data from osteology, sociology and historical sciences:
- Evaluation of existing ontologies regarding their usability
- Structuring of output data
- Data modeling
Required skills: Master student or graduate equivalent to master’s degree in either biology, sociology, historical/cultural sciences, mathematics, informatics, or related sciences
Qualifications and Requirements: Creative, open-minded and solution-oriented researchers with a high level of self-organization, excellent time management and team work.
Desired qualifications:
- Experience with semantic web technologies (RDF, SPARQL)
- Coding skills
- Knowledge of web development and SQL hands-on experience
- Experience with museum collections and/or repatriation
