ADSM Constitutive Meeting

,

The GfA workgroup ‚Data Standardisation and Management‚ (Arbeitsgruppe Datenstandardisierung und -modellierung, ADSM) will hold its first regular meeting in January 2020 in Freiburg (Breisgau, Germany). During this event the group will be formally constituted and speakers will be elected. The main objective, however, will be to define the exact scope and aims of the group and to develop a plan of action for the upcoming years.

In order to make this workgroup meeting as effective as possible we call upon all GfA members to submit ideas and suggestions. Please note that even non-members can be admitted to join workgroups and that we, therefore, also welcome input from the wider professional public. An online form for structured input is provided on the meeting webpage. Feedback given through this form will be congested into a concept paper forming the basis for discussion during the meeting.

Anyone who is interested in attending the meeting is asked to submit the online form, no matter if or how much input they want to give. This will provide an overview of attendance numbers to be anticipated. Until 30 November 2019 early submitters will also have the opportunity to vote for the exact date of the meeting which will be announced early in December. People interested in attending the meeting but finding it hard to travel to Freiburg will have the opportunity for remote participation.

Please get updated information from the meeting webpage.

We hope that the participation process will meet with wide response and look forward to a stimulating meeting.

Workgroup ‚Data Standardisation and Modelling‘

,

The Society for Anthropology (Gesellschaft für Anthropologie, GfA) has a new workgroup dedicated to the standardisation and modelling of research data in biological anthropology. During its regular assembly on 26 September 2019 at the GfA meeting in Göttingen, the GfA membership approved a motion in favour of forming the group.

Interested meeting participants gathered on 27 September for an informal exchange of ideas (see image). It was decided that the first formal meeting of the workgroup ‚Data Standardisation and Modelling‘ (Arbeitsgruppe Datenstandardisierung und -modellierung, ADSM), at which the group will be formally constituted, should be held early in 2020. Information about this upcoming meeting will be distributed through the workgroup’s webpage.

GfA members can download a report on the informal meeting in Göttingen from the internal section of the GfA website. You can find information how to become a member here.
